Enterprise CRM Integrations
Maintained and extended integrations connecting SugarCRM and SuiteCRM to payment processing, cloud storage, telephony, and e-signature tools.
Project Overview
At Rolustech, I started my career maintaining and extending CRM integration products that connected SugarCRM and SuiteCRM to payment processing (Stripe), cloud productivity tools (Google Workspace), telephony (Twilio), e-signature (DocuSign), and email (SendGrid).
Working as a software engineer, I maintained existing integration products and built customizations for new client requirements across a range of industries. That meant constantly translating business requirements into working code while coordinating with cross-functional teams in an agile environment.
Key Products
RT SugarStripe
Payment processing integration connecting Stripe with SugarCRM/SuiteCRM for transaction management.
RT GSync
Google Workspace integration syncing Docs, Calendar, and Drive with CRM data for unified productivity.
RT Telephony
Twilio-powered telephony integration enabling call logging, recording, and customer communication tracking.
RT DocuSign
E-signature integration streamlining document workflows and contract management within the CRM.
RT SalesMap
Geographic visualization and mapping tools for sales territory management.
My Role & Contributions
Software Engineer
This was my first engineering job. I learned to maintain production integrations, talk directly to clients about what they actually needed, and work inside an agile team to turn that into shipped features.
What I Did
Integration Maintenance & Enhancement
Maintained and extended integrations with Google, Stripe, Twilio, DocuSign, and SendGrid inside SugarCRM and SuiteCRM. Most of the work was fixing authentication, data sync, error handling, and rate limiting issues, each provider had its own way of breaking.
Client Customization & Requirements
Worked directly with clients to turn their requirements into technical specs, then built the customizations on top of our existing integration products so they matched each client’s actual workflow.
Full-Stack Development
Implemented new features and updates using PHP for backend CRM logic, JavaScript and React for frontend interfaces, and worked with Node.js for integration middleware. Enhanced and maintained responsive UIs using HTML5, CSS3, and Bootstrap.
Agile Collaboration
Ran scrum ceremonies: sprint planning, backlog grooming, daily standups, sprint reviews, retrospectives. Worked with project managers to set coding milestones we could actually hit before release.
Version Control & Deployment
Managed code using Git and GitLab, following established workflows for code reviews, branching strategies, and deployment processes.
Technologies
Backend: PHP, Node.js
Frontend: React, JavaScript, HTML5, CSS3, Bootstrap
CRM Platforms: SugarCRM, SuiteCRM
APIs: Stripe, Google Workspace, Twilio, DocuSign, SendGrid
Tools: Git, GitLab
Conclusion
Rolustech is where I learned the unglamorous parts of the job: maintaining someone else’s integration code, triaging a client’s bug report on a Friday evening, shipping a fix that can’t break four other paying customers’ CRMs at once. None of that shows up in a demo, but it’s the reason I didn’t flinch two years later when myNFT handed me a codebase with real money moving through it.
